Gennett recordings also appear profusely, generally pseudonymously, and sometimes uniquely on the Sears labels Challenge, Conqueror, Silvertone, and Supertone (see entry for Sears) and on independent labels such as Bell, Black Patti, Buddy, Herschel Gold Seal (made for the Northwestern Supply Company of St. Paul, Minnesota), and Herwin. Gennett had its main recording studios in Richmond, Indiana, and New York. The Richmond studio used a matrix sequence starting (for the purposes of this book) in the 11000s and running into the early 20000s.
