In an underground condominium development known as the “Burrow”—essentially purgatory—“twilight souls” inhabit the gap among existence and dying. Interwoven with their tales are these of population of the residing international: a retired sea captain, a psychotic former baby actor (possibly the ocean captain’s illegitimate son?), and the technicians who computer screen the Burrow, ensuring its occupants have a relentless offer of oxygen and food.
