With the Bus Port, the Cricket itself can have just two sensor inputs and two motor drivers, and additional devices may be connected to the Bus Port. Much recent work has been devoted to the conception and development of new Bus Devices. Our present list of such Cricket peripherals includes: • Heart Rate Monitor—Based on the Polar® exercise sensor, this device automatically tabulates a pulse measurement, returning a beats-per-minute reading that is updated every six seconds. • 3-Digit Numeric Display—A large-character LED display, capable of displaying numeric values sent from the Cricket.
Work and social mobility is only on the increase, as is email account penetration, and of course as the Web becomes pervasive we increasingly depend on timely information most readily available in digital form. Asynchronous messages or information delivery are by definition an interruption into our lives; whether this interruption is valuable or harmful depends on both the quality of the information being delivered as well as what other tasks we are performing at the arrival time. Interruption with the right information is useful and helps us be more productive, either at work or socially.
